The IDELE Solution
The IDELE project has come to an end, but this is by no means the end of the "IDELE Solution"!
IDELE was a 3-year project of the European Commission Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and is implemented by ECOTEC Research & Consulting. It was initiated in 2003 and involved the:
Identification,
Dissemination and
Exchange of good practice in
Local
Employment development.
Twelve IDELE seminars provided a platform for policy-makers and project promoters facing similar challenges to share a real dialogue about how the local approach can make a difference and thereby strengthen local employment development across the European Union. The lessons, principles and tools identified have informed EU policy and been disseminated across Europe.
Whilst the IDELE project is now complete, IDELE as a "solution" will continue to live through the many networks and relationships that have been created between the different participants. We must remember that we are the "voice" of a huge constituency of local actors and we owe it to that constituency to use our policy influence to help them continue their work. It is what it happens from now on that will preserve the important legacy of IDELE.
