Region Portfolio: Employer Investment in Training and Workforce Development

Training

This study, commissioned to enhance the SSDA’s understanding of employers’ investment in training and workforce development, researched the most important issues in investment in training and workforce development in the UK and internationally. It also explored and extracted important lessons on the effectiveness of different funding and non funding incentives and drivers for employer investment. We identified case studies of cultural, institutional and financial mechanisms to encourage employer investment in vocational education. Our work also established robust, transparent and evidence-based conclusions and recommendations, adding value to the work of the SSDA and its partners in assessing employer investment in training. The study contributed to valuable SSDA inputs into the consultation process as part of the Leitch Review of Skills.
